About Shorewood Christian School
Our mission is to teach our students to know who they are in Christ and to equip them to fulfill their unique destiny in God through the power of the Holy Spirit.
With the Bible as the foundation of all instruction, Shorewood Christian School seeks to educate the whole child spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, socially, and physically. Once equipped, our students will have a godly influence on their own families, their community, the nation, and the world.
While Scripture places the primary responsibility for educating children on their parents, the local church also shares this privilege by virtue of the Great Commision mandate. Thus, SCS, as an extension of Roots Church assists parents in fulfilling this important Scriptural injunction.
Letter from the Principal
Dear Families and Staff of Shorewood Christian School,
I am so excited about our adventure together. The school and the people have all been positive and welcoming, not just to me, but to the new teachers and students we’ve had the opportunity to meet. In the students and teachers I see joy, I see understanding, and I see the love of Christ being shared. It is an honor and blessing to join you in this mission.
I spent 8 years previously at a K-8 school very similar to Shorewood, serving as the head of middle school and teaching math, bible, computers and music. During the time I was there, my team transformed the middle school from 24 students to consistently about 50, while improving our academic offerings. Most of our students went to public high schools, and we were honored to have 7 valedictorians and salutatorians in 7 years. It is my desire to see the same blessings here, with our diligent work, and the Lord’s leading.
My wife and I come from Oregon where we lived for quite some time, but we are both Washington transplants. I grew up in the Kent area, while she is a child of an Eastern Washington potato farm family. We met at Western Washington University. We have three daughters; our oldest lives in Mill Creek with her husband and three children. Our middle daughter, fresh from teaching English in Japan, is now living in Seattle and teaching at a pre-school in Kirkland! And not to be outdone in the great news category, our youngest daughter, who was recently married, is off to Australia to go to graduate school! My family is energized to see how God is moving; guiding and directing our paths as we remain faithful to Him.
Together, we can continue to grow and improve our program here at Shorewood Christian. I hope you will join in our mission and future as well.
In His joy and strength,
Rev. David N. Glass
